Welcome bags are a wonderful way to show hospitality to out of town guests for your destination wedding. Once you have the bag packed with goodies, local maps, and information on things to do in the area, it is time to start planning on how to get the welcome bags to your out of town guests.
Delivering The Welcome Bags
I recommend contacting the hotels that you have room blocks at in advance to determine the number of guests that have already booked their rooms. Ask the hotel staff if they would be willing to accept the bags a few days early so that you are not running around delivering them the night before the wedding. Make sure that you are also aware of any fees that the hotel may charge for delivering the welcome bags to the guests' rooms.
Handling Deliveries To Multiple Hotels
The process can be overwhelming if you have guests staying at a variety of hotels. In that case, enlist the help of family members to assist in dropping off the welcome bags. Another option is to have a welcome party where you can present the welcome bags to all of your out of town guests at once. Whether it is a casual or formal event, this may also be a great opportunity for family members to meet and greet prior to the big day.

Vintage has definitely been a keyword in the world of weddings this year. Pops of vintage style have been weaved into all components of the wedding including invitations, cuisine, and decor. But, where I have seen the most growth of the vintage trend is in the bridal party attire and accessories.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Ashley, the owner of Blue Rose Vintage, after her recent Winter 2012 photo shoot to get more insight into the realm of genuine vintage bridal fashions. I also included some photos of my favorite dresses from the shoot with dates ranging from the 1960's all the way back to the 1930's!

What inspired you to open Blue Rose Vintage?
I have always wanted to do something with my life that is different and simply "out of the box". After college, I landed a great job at a Fortune 500 healthcare company, but I felt that something was missing. When I wasn't at work, I spent my time fixing up my 1940's cottage and watching vintage films. The day eventually came when I was laid off; but I actually had a smile on my face knowing that my end there was going to be the beginning of something greater. I soon took my love for vintage fashion and formed Blue Rose Vintage LLC.
What sets Blue Rose Vintage apart from other vintage apparel shops?
Blue Rose Vintage originally specialized in vintage women's clothing. When I was planning my vintage wedding during my first year in business, I realized that vintage bridal gowns and accessories were not plentiful on the market. That’s how I started to hone in on vintage wedding gowns and accessories. Now, the hand sewn lace of the 1800's, liquid satin of the 1940's and full skirts of the 1950's fill up the racks in my studio.
What tips can you give brides who want to add a modern touch or their own sense of style to a vintage bridal gown?
I would suggest pairing a couple of modern accessories with your vintage gown. For instance, if you have to have a vintage 1930's wedding gown with the originally worn 1930's wax floral veil, then I would suggest wearing modern pumps and a clutch to have that delicate balance of vintage and modern.
